Elder Abuse Awareness Day
On Monday, June 15th, Lauderdale County District Attorney Chris Connolly spoke at the Elder Abuse Awareness Day and Fraud Summit hosted by The Alabama Department of Human Resources and the Alabama Department of Senior Services along with NACOLG and the Better Business Bureau.
This event was held at Cross Point Church in Florence. The topic was Protecting Alabama’s Elders Act which became law in April 2014. The DA discussed the major components of this legislation and answered questions from those in attendance. He was also allowed to provide information to the group about One Place Family Justice Center and how the center is serving elders who are being abused, neglected, or financially exploited.
