Alabama Coalition Against Rape

On Friday, June 5th, the Lauderdale County District Attorney’s office hosted ACAR (Alabama Coalition Against Rape) Advisory Committee at One Place of the Shoals. The committee is studying sexual assault laws in our State and recommending updates and changes to existing laws. The committee has been meeting in Montgomery at the One Place Family Justice Center.

Lauderdale County District Attorney Chris Connolly invited the committee to come to Florence to meet so that they could tour One Place of the Shoals Family Justice Center. Committee members included prosecutors from Mobile and Jefferson County, as well as other stakeholders. Mobile and Jeffereson Counties are both interested in establishing family justice centers. We are supportive of their efforts and look forward to continuing to work with them to make this happen throughout the State.
